TALENTS 2021 BA FASHION SHOW
under the patronage of National Chamber for Italian Fashion, Altaroma, Regione Lazio, Roma Capitale

Accademia Costume & Moda and 39 companies of the Made in Italy that consistently add their support to fashion talents

ALTAROMA – CINECITTA’ STUDIOS
Via Lamaro 30, Roma | July 7th – h 21.00

For the edition of Talents 2021 the Accademia Costume & Moda (ACM), based in Rome and Milan, presents a project that interprets the synthesis of the First Level Academic Degree in Costume and Fashion, a unique education aiming to bring out the identity of the students, as well as to provide them with individual and cultural awareness, competence and technique, experience and professionalism.

This edition will see the participation of 15 students (1 menswear, 6 womenswear, 1 menswear/womenswear, 3 Men Leathergoods, 1 Women Leathergoods, 2 Men/Woman Leathergoods, and 1 Genderless Leathergoods) who had the opportunity to collaborate with 39 companies of the Made in Italy for the creation of 15 capsule collections (6 outfits each) that will be presented at Altaroma, on Thursday, July 7 at Cinecittà Studios.

An important goal, the culmination of three years of study and workshop activities that, in this edition, takes on an even more significant importance. After more than a year of pandemic, the modalities of interaction and work between students, academic staff and companies have been rethought and reshaped. The latter – despite the difficulties that the supply chain has been through – have never hesitated with their support of students, without hesitation and doing so with generosity and enthusiasm.

An extraordinary collaboration, which aims to establish real partnerships with the excellence of Italian manufacturing (wool and silk textile companies, embroidery factories, technological and experimental manufacturing, tanneries and shoe factories), creating a link between companies and students from the first years of study, the first step into the world of work. There will be collections telling about the personal scenario of individual students, ideas and stories, garments that start from a careful research, both cultural and individual, from an experimentation in fabrics and materials. The design work is characterized also by acquired technical skills of students, who are coordinated by Santo Costanzo for clothing and Luigi Mulas Debois for accessories, together with the craftsmanship know-how and refined industrial processes of the companies involved.

The Talents 2021 are: Marianna Achilli, Enrica Maria Affinita, Filippo Alimonti, Marco Anzil, Gianmaria Bottino, Lazzaro Bove, Marco Bucchi, Ginevra Calo’, Renato De Simone, Gaia Garofalo, Anna Lemme, Sofia Masciotta, Valeri Salvatori, Lorena Tiberi, Margherita Violante.

The work of the students will be judged by a prestigious jury of experts evaluating the collections and portfolios in terms of Innovation, Research, Product and Total Look. The Accademia Costume & Moda, through the continuous involvement of professionals in the field, wants to complete the study path undertaken by the students and built with companies, creating strong connections, to ensure maximum visibility to the work of students and present contemporary collections that are reflected in the demands of the market and the industry. A. Lupo Lanzara (President of Accademia Costume & Moda): “After more than a year of profound changes that have marked the industry and the market, the Academy proves to be able to continue the profound growth path undertaken to support new fashion professionals. ACM continues in the wake of innovation, establishing solid ties and collaborations with professionals and companies in the Fashion System to ensure the personal and professional growth of our students. A strategy – that was already implemented by my predecessors, my grandmother Rosana Pistolese and my mother Fiamma Lanzara, – proving to be successful and appreciated both by the market and the industry and confirming the employment rate of our students at over 93%”.

Also this year, Pitti Immagine – through its Pitti Tutoring & Consulting division, which deals with the support and enhancement of fashion designers – selects one among the 15 Talents 2021 to be awarded with the “Pitti Tutoring & Consulting Reward”. Established in 2017, the award will give a young designer the opportunity to carry out three training meetings with Luca Rizzi, the director of the project.

The Talents 2021 also represents a moment of celebration of a virtuous path that ACM carries out in support of the new generation of fashion professionals. Last but not least, the participation to Milano Unica (July 6-7) with the Industry Projects realized by the students of the First Level Master’s Degree in Fabrics Innovation Design in collaboration with Lanificio di Sordevolo, Ratti, Gruppo Dondi Jersey, Clerici Tessuto, Dyloan Bond Factory and The Woolmark Company.

In addition to the Industry Projects – one of the cornerstones of the Accademia, realized in collaboration with the most important companies and fashion houses of the Fashion System – and the visibility projects offered to the students (such as Talents), ACM presents itself with a renewed didactic offer not only in the historical seat of Rome, but also in the new campus in Milan (via Fogazzaro 23), whose activity is mainly dedicated to the areas of Communication and Fashion Management.

The Milan campus is the center of an educational offer that is enriched by the following Master’s Degrees: “Fashion Communication & Art Direction”, “Creative Direction for the Performing Arts” and “Fashion Sustainability & Industry Evolution”, which will start in the next few months. And three-year courses e.g. “Fashion Design Management”, “Fashion Communication”, as well as specialization courses such as “Introduction to Fashion Archive”, held in collaboration with the Gianfranco Ferrè Foundation, which has been very successful in terms of enrollment.

In Rome, on the other hand, the historic three-year courses in “Costume and Fashion” and in “Fashion Communication: Fashion Editor Styling & Communication” continue to be offered.

Companies, professors and students, together in a virtuous cycle aimed at creating professionals capable of covering different key roles within the entire fashion sector, favoring the encounter between costume and fashion, research and design, communication and product.

A special thanks goes to Marco Mastroianni, former student, Head of Materials Research and Processing for some of the most prestigious fashion houses in the world, who supported the students in the choice of fabrics together with the infinite generosity and great support of the companies of the Italian Fashion System that have provided and implemented fabrics and processing.
