BA FASHION SHOW TALENTS 2022
under the patronage of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, AltaRoma, Regione Lazio and Roma Capitale
Italian manufacturing excellence meets a new fashion generation
Rome, July 12th 2022. Accademia Costume & Moda (ACM), based in Rome and Milan, presents the BA Fashion Show Talents 2022, under the patronage of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, AltaRoma, Regione Lazio and Roma Capitale. The fashion showwill take place in Rome on July 12th, 10.30am, at Guido Reni District in Via Guido Reni 7, as part of the events scheduled for AltaRoma.
Talents 2022 will be showcasing the work of Bachelor of Arts (BA) studentsin Costume and Fashion (C&F) and in Fashion Communication: Editor, Styling & Communication (FESC). These unique learning experiences aim to bring out the identity of each individual student, equipping them with personal and cultural self-awareness, planning abilities, technical and product competence, narrative and interpretative abilities, experience and professionality.
The Fashion Show will present the collections of 15 students of theBA in Costume & Fashion (C&F)who have had the opportunity to collaborate with 30 brands representing the excellence of Made in Italy manufacturing, conceiving 15 capsule collections (6 outfits each). Three of the BA Fashion Communication: Editor, Styling and Communication (FESC) students have also enjoyed the opportunity of creating their own magazine, in hardcopy and/or digital format, and of overseeing its editorial and communication strategy.
This important achievement marks the culmination of three years of study and workshop activities, which for the part of BA C&F have been made possible thanks to a remarkable collaboration with some of the finest expressions of the Made in Italy manufacturing sector (wool and silk producers, embroideries, technological and experimental craftsmanship, tanners and footwear producers) that have been able to create the designs exclusively for Talents 2022: jacquard in wool, silk, jersey, development of prints and detailing, embroideries, needling, laser cuts and special finishings. This connection between brands and students has resulted in the presentation of collections that are the fruit of careful research, experimentation with textiles and materials, technical and design competence, all combined with the craftsmanship know-how and sophisticated industrial processes of the firms involved. This kind of collaborations date back to 1964, the time of the founder Rosana Pistolese, and has been continued by the ‘aeternum’ president Fiamma Lanzara, who passed away in 2020.

Through its policy of continued involvement of professionals, Accademia Costume & Moda aims to offer its students a complete course that has been conceived together with firms in the sector, with the idea of ensuring maximum visibility for the students’ work and to present projects that are in line with existing demand in the work environment.
This year, Pitti Immagine has once more confirmed its intention to work alongside and support our young designers with the PITTI Tutoring & Consulting Reward, which will be awarded personally by the director Luca Rizzi.
A. Lupo Lanzara (President, Accademia Costume & Moda): “the fashion system rewards the strategy that has been implemented. We just need to think of the graduate employment figures we have achieved:for the recently concluded Masters there has been an employment rate of almost 100%, whereas for the Undergraduate 3yr Coursesthe figure stands at 85% of the entire student body. These important numbers make us deeply proud and show that the Accademia continues its role of training professionals capable of occupying a range of key positions across the entire fashion sector, encouraging the interaction between costume and fashion, research and design, communication and product”.
Alongside its Industry Projects – whichbenefit from collaborations with over 150 of the most important brands operating in the fashion system – and visibility projects offered to students (such as Talents 2022), the Accademia now provides a teaching service that has been renewed, structured both in its historic Rome headquarters and in its new Milan campus in Via Fogazzaro 23, where activities will focus on Communication and Fashion Management.
The Milan campus will also be at the core of an academic offer that is further enriched by the “Master in Style & Management for the Music Industry”, aimed at teaching to a new generation of professionals with expertise in spotting, creating, developing and managing artists in the music and entertainment industry. There is also the “Academic Master in Fashion Sustainability & Industry Evolution” in partnership with Salvatore Ferragamo, Bonaudo and Project Officina Creativa, whosechief training objective is to develop new professional profiles that are aware of the engaged innovation processes in the economic, environmental and social spheres.
A special thanks goes to our former student Marco Mastroianni, now in charge of Création Matières at Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi, who helped students in their selection of fabrics, as well as for the enormous generosity and help provided by the brands of Sistema Moda Italia who supplied and manufactured both textiles and finishings.
