La casa di moda Fendi ha chiesto agli studenti di ricercare, sviluppare ed incorporare una lavorazione artigianale del proprio luogo di origine, proprio come nel loro progetto Hand in Hand.
Perciò sono partita da uno dei miei luoghi di provenienza, l’Inghilterra, e ho trovato il Dorset Button, una lavorazione del 1800 tramandata in generazione in generazione che incorpora varietà di design e colore. Infatti il bottone si creava avvolgendo lana o cotone intorno ad un anello, e da lì far partire fiori, carri, oppure forme geometriche come nelle versioni più recenti. Utilizzando questa tecnica di lavorazione sono riuscita a creare il logo di Fendi all’interno del bottone e per incorporarlo negli accessori ho utilizzato un passante.
The Italian brand Fendi asked us students to research, develop and incorporate a particular know-how technique from our background into the accessories, just like they did for their project “Hand in Hand”.
Therefore, I looked into a side of my heritage, England, and found the Dorset Button, a technique from the 1800’s passed down from generations that had a variety of designs and colour.
The button is created by wrapping a string of wool or cotton around a ring (typically a mutton horn ring) to then allow the design process of creating wheels, flowers, or geometric shapes, as in recent versions. I was able to create the Fendi double F logo on the Botton and therefore incorporate it onto the accessories.
