Doors to our Personalities

In molte culture in tutto il mondo le persone dipingono le porte con il colore che preferiscono, spesso raffigurando un accenno della loro personalità. Le porte colorate sono anche considerate e viste come un mezzo per portare fortuna alle persone che vivono quella casa. E le porte lo sono
anche visti come unici, forti e individualisti come i loro proprietari. Ogni porta ha la sua storia metaforica sulle persone che lascia e lascia uscire.
Poiché le porte sono state l’ispirazione principale per questo progetto, ho esaminato le porte della mia regione natale in India, il Rajasthan. Molte città sono note per avere case colorate con porte colorate e di solito con disegni vintage e intricati sulle porte. Le porte sono solitamente dipinte con colori vivaci e allegri per portare attenzione e buone azioni alla casa e farla stare
fuori.
Queste idee giocano bene in linea con il brief di questo progetto per personalizzare e creare qualcosa di tuo. A un esame più attento delle porte, ho scoperto che il meccanismo delle cerniere delle porte poteva essere sperimentato per creare un modo nuovo e veloce di personalizzare merci e accessori per Salvatore Ferragamo. Il meccanismo delle cerniere della porta che in fondo è un oggetto di metallo che è
di forma cilindrica con due parti separate che si uniscono per il movimento. Ho preso quel meccanismo e l’ho trasferito a scopo di design e personalizzazione per questo progetto. Con l’aiuto di questo meccanismo, il cliente può cambiare rapidamente parti della borsa o accessori per creare una nuova colorazione. Il cliente può anche aggiungere le iniziali del proprio nome personale ai prodotti utilizzando questo meccanismo. Ho creato una gamma di prodotti per questa collezione tra cui shopper, borsa a tracolla, marsupio, busta, custodia per telefono, custodia per piccoli oggetti, cintura, portacarte, portafoglio, portachiavi e persino gioielli che includono orecchini e un ciondolo. Un totale di 14 prodotti sono stati progettati per questa collezione.
La colorazione di questo progetto è stata definita dall’immagine di una tipica porta tradizionale ma molto colorata nella città di Jaipur. La fotografia mostra la porta leggermente aperta e le persone che fanno capolino dal loro cortile sedute all’interno. Ho trovato questa immagine molto interessante in quanto si collega molto bene a questo tema del mio progetto in cui siamo tutti individui e talvolta le nostre personalità colorate attirano persone nuove e interessanti per noi. \
La colorazione presenta colori caldi e luminosi in contrasto con tonalità fredde e chiare e anche colori più commerciali come il nero e il marrone.
The title of this project is “Doors to our personality”. I have taken doors as the starting point of my project. In many cultures around the world people paint doors in the color of their choice often depicting a hint of their personalities. Colorful doors are also considered and seen as a medium to bring in good fortunes to the people living that house. And doors are also seen as unique, strong and individualistic as their owners. Each door has its own metaphorical story about the people it lets and lets out.
As doors were the main inspiration for this project, I have looked at doors from my birth region in India, Rajasthan. Many cities there are known to have colorful houses with colorful doors and usually in vintage and intricate designs on the doors. Doors are usually painted in bright and cheerful colors to bring attention and good deeds to the house and make it stand out. These ideas play well in line with the brief of this project to customise and make something your own.
Upon closer inspection of doors, I found that the mechanism of door hinges could be experimented with to create a new and quick way to customise goods and accessories for
Salvatore Ferragamo. The mechanism of door hinges which basically is a metal object that is cylindrical in shape with two separate parts that are joined together for movement. I have taken that mechanism and transferred it for design and customisation purpose for this project. With the help if this mechanism, the customer can quickly change parts of the bag or accessories to create a new colorway. The customer can also add their personal name initials to the products using this mechanism.
I have created a range products for this collection including shopper bag, crossbody bag, belt bag, envelop bag, phone case, small goods case, belt, card holder, wallet, key holder and even jewellery which includes earrings and a pendant. A total of 14 products have been designed for this collection.
The colorway for this project has been defined by an image of a typical traditional but very colorful door in the city of Jaipur. The photograph features the door with is slightly open and has people peeping out form their courtyard sitting inside. I found this image very interesting as it related very well to this theme of my project where we are all individuals and sometimes our colorful personalities draw in new and interesting people to us.
The colorway features bright warm colors in contrast with cool and light shades and also more commercial colors like black and brown.
