vivacizzati grazie all’utilizzo di stampa a pigmento.
lucido-opaco sullo sfondo, particolari finissaggi come l’innovativo SENSICHROM

flanella in lana.

The realized project is entitled FERNWEH, a German term meaning nostalgia
of distant countries. And it is precisely from this word that I would like to start the narrative.
“Nostalgia of faraway countries” is precisely the feeling that guided me in the
design and idealization of the project. A faraway that does not refer to
space as much as to time. In fact, my nostalgia owes its origin to a time
far away that is incredibly fascinating to me. It is an era dating back to the
9th and 8th centuries B.C., the period in which Greek mythology originated.
A past that nevertheless recurs in the present. The content, the allegories, the
teachings that each myth conveys are still contemporary. In fact, I would call them
timeless.
A past that influences and at the same time creates innovation. A past that
is never past but always reoccurs. All this makes Greek mythology
an object of great fascination. It has not only been so for me, in fact it has been a source of inspiration for a variety of artists (painters, sculptors, architects, but also musicians, designers
and whatnot).
The proposed fabric collection aims to tell the story of four of the most
important Greek myths. Specifically developed are the myths of Oranges, of
Prometheus, of Daphne and Apollo, and finally the twelve labors of Heracles. Each of these
myths is retold through my interpretation and exposed through the
TOILE DE JOUY.
The choice of this type of drawing is due to my primary intent, which is to
telling stories. And which method was best suited for the realization? The
textile drawing par excellence that has as its purpose storytelling.
Each of these stories then sees further development in which a
significant detail and interpreted through all-overs or placements.
The design also aims to connect the past with the present. The past
in fact we find it both in the object of the collection and in the pattern
representative (Toile de jouy).

In order to make it contemporary, I wanted to give the main characters a trait that was
geometric, boxy. In addition, I played with color and printing techniques to
release more from the past and rather make it innovative and contemporary.
The classic Toile de jouy pattern and coloring will be reinterpreted. Not
there is the classic white as a background and the scenes are not colored as per the
tradition of red or blue. In fact, the colors are bright and bold; in some cases rendered
enlivened by the use of pigment printing.
I also wanted to give more character to the prints by inserting jacquard
glossy-matte in the background, special finishes such as the innovative SENSICHROM
and finally, to create a three-dimensional effect that is pleasant to the touch, the use of the flock printing.
Fabric weights are variable depending on the use for which they are designed.
There are lightweight fabrics such as satin or crepe de chine and heavier fabrics such as
wool flannel.
The project I aim to create a thread between the past and the
present, making use of history, study it in depth, interpret it and give it a
new life and a contemporary interpretation.
One cannot disregard the past to create innovation.
