(Dis)Connected

Il tema centrale del progetto è la costruzione dell’identità attraverso l’osservazione, sia nella vita reale che in quella virtuale.
Oggi qualcosa è cambiato nelle dinamiche sociali e nella costruzione dei processi identitari. È nato un sé diverso, costruito intenzionalmente da individui che sviluppano la propria personalità in base al contesto e all’uso che intendono farne.
Tutto questo avviene attraverso lo sguardo, un’osservazione costante, attiva ma anche passiva dell’ambiente circostante, di persone che a volte gravitano anche inconsapevolmente intorno a certi
punti focali.
Attraverso l’espressione visiva si è giunti ad una presa di coscienza e di conseguenza ad una riappropriazione della nostra immagine scegliendo quando, come e cosa mostrare agli altri.
I nostri personaggi sono apparentemente distaccati dal mondo che li circonda, assorbiti dal loro smartphone.
Infatti, è proprio questo che crea un senso di connessione tra questi –
apparentemente – personaggi diversi, che in realtà condividono un legame più profondo.
La loro giornata ordinaria si scontra con la loro metamorfosi in esseri unici e straordinari nella loro peculiarità.

The central theme of the project is the construction of identity through observation, both in real life and in virtual life.
Nowadays something has changed in the social dynamics and in the processes of identity construction. A different self was born, intentionally built by individuals who create their personalities based on the context and the use they intend to make of them.
All this happens through the gaze, a constant, active but also passive observation of our surrounding environment, of people who sometimes even unconsciously gravitate around certain focal points.
Through visual expression we have come to an awareness and consequently to a re-appropriation of our image by choosing when, how and what to show to others.
Our characters are apparently detached from the world around them, absorbed by their smartphone. In fact it is precisely this that creates a sense of connection between these – apparently – different characters who actually share a deeper bond.
Their ordinary day collides with their metamorphosis into unique and extraordinary beings in their peculiarities.
