Questo progetto nasce su un’importante riflessione sull’attuale collasso ambientale ed è ispirato dal filantropo sudafricano Elon Musk, che ipotizza viaggi su Marte per la sopravvivenza della specie umane. Gli abiti richiamano le uniformi da lavoro degli anni ’80, con tagli sartoriali abbinati a shibori, impreziositi da fiori veri applicati sul tessuto e conservati con la resina. Questa è la storia di un futuro distopico, le forme sono nitide, oversize e geometriche, con tessuti da lavoro pesanti in contrasto con la delicatezza dei fiori.
This project is born out of living in the cusp of constant environmental collapse,climate change,where species extinction is occurring everyday around us, where Elon Musk talks about voyages to Mars for human species to survive eventually. The clothes are deconstructed workwear from the 80s,with sharp tailoring combined with shibori resist dyeing(inspired by the dusty ragged surface soil of Mars) and an experimental process of conserving and preserving real flowers on fabric.This is a story of a dystopian future, the shapes and forms are sharp, oversized and geometric, with heavy workwear fabrics in contrast with the delicacy of the flowers.
