Anni 30, sotto il cielo stellato del Nordest Brasiliano sorge il fenomeno del banditismo brasiliano chiamato CANGAÇO dove i membri del gruppo imperversano nelle campagne e nelle città in cerca di giustizia e vendetta per la mancanza di lavoro, cibo e diritti sociali. Un gruppo nomade nel quale tra un nascondiglio e l’altro nascono storie d’amore come quella di Lampiao e Maria Bonita.
Oltre 70 anni di violenze ed avventure diventate simbolo del Nordest brasiliano con i suoi vestiari ricchi di simboli ed accessori realizzati dagli stessi guerriglieri. Storie e poemi di campagna sono raccontati nella Letteratura di Cordel utilizzando come tecnica illustrativa la xilografia. La collezione riunisce tutti questi elementi: la brutalità del coraggio e dell’avventura in contrasto con la delicatezza delle storie d’amore. I colori e le forme dell’abbigliamento tipico sono i riferimenti per lo sviluppo dei capi mentre la simbologia e la xilografia ispirano i ricami e le stampe.

The 1930s, under the starry sky of the Brazilian Northeast, the phenomenon of Brazilian banditry called CANGAÇO arises where the members of the group are raging in the countryside and in the cities in search of justice and revenge for the lack of work, food and social rights. A nomadic group in which love stories like that of Lampiao and Maria Bonita are born between one hiding place and another. Over 70 years of violence and adventures have become a symbol of the Brazilian Northeast with its clothes full of symbols and accessories made by the guerrillas themselves. Country stories and poems are told in Cordel's literature using woodcut as an illustrative technique. The collection brings together all these elements: the brutality of courage and adventure in contrast to the delicacy of love stories. The colors and shapes of the typical clothing are the references for the development of the garments while the symbology and the woodcut inspire the embroidery and prints.
